Academic Advisement:
Daniel has served as a mentor to design and production students, providing opportunities to work on professional productions, including the Meshuga Nutcracker, at the Gindi Auditorium on the American Jewish University campus. Students are able to network with industry professionals, while gaining valuable on-the-job experience.
Faculty Technical Direction
As Faculty Technical Director, Daniel works closely with the department chair and production manager to develop a detailed production schedule and assist in the assigning, coordinating, and training of student crews for individual shows.
Once a particular play or performance has been selected, Daniel communicates with the director and artistic team to determine the necessary technical needs of the production, including but not limited to lighting, sound, and scenery. Additionally, Daniel makes himself available to work with and assist the designers, including faculty, industry professionals, and students. From there, he researches possible construction methods or procedures, develops construction drawings, and establishes materials estimates.
Further duties include: ordering materials, monitoring shop expenses, developing build (including paint) and load-in schedules, communicate technical drawings and schedules to shop crew, monitor daily progress of scenery construction, and address all concerns or developments that come up during the rehearsal process.
In collaboration with CSULA Staff, Daniel offers basic training sessions, instructing students on the roles and responsibilities of student shop and run crews, including safety procedures in the shop and on stage.
